Motorcoach Safety and Security – PowerVue MotorCoach – PowerVue Motorcoach is a fully hosted fleet management solution combining web-based, enterprise-class software with flexible communication options and a state-of-the art, 7-inch color display On-Board Computer (OBC) system. PowerVue Motorcoach was designed to meet safety and security requirements issued by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to qualify for grants from the Intercity Bus Security Grant Program. PowerVue’s advances safety and security features include the required GPS, kill switch technology, panic button features along with Hours of Service tracking, monitoring motorcoach location and driver behavior. PowerVue’s patented, software-only engine de-rate technology enables the controlled, remote engine shutdown of a motorcoach in the event of a safety incident such as a hijacking.
PowerVue Motorcoach enables fleet managers to monitor driver behaviors such as speeding, over RPM, out-of-route driving, and excessive idling. It also provides electronic logging capabilities, enabling drivers to log on/off to their shifts via OBC and automatically recording events such as route starts and stops – eliminating the need for any sort of paper log in the motorcoach.
PowerVue benefits fall into two main categories: Safety and Efficiency.
Safety: Fleet managers can monitor unsafe driver behaviors and DOT violations, and implement programs to eliminate them. Drives have access to a panic button that signals fleet managers to remotely shut down the motorcoach engine in the event of a health issue, safety incident or security threat.
Efficiency: By monitoring driver behavior, fleet managers can reduce driver behaviors such as idling that waste fuel. They can also optimize routes by sending updates on the fly to drivers via OBCs. In addition, e-logs save drivers up to 30 minutes of paperwork each shift.
