KML Mapping - accurate accident reconstruction, incident viewing and trip animation
Cadec continues to embrace and leverage the latest and most powerful technology standards within PowerVue’s mapping features. PowerVue provides KML mapping for the most advanced trip and incident animation capabilities.
KML is an XML language, originally developed to manage the display of geospatial data in Google Earth, focused on geographic visualization, including annotation of maps and images. Geographic visualization includes not only the presentation of graphical data on the globe, but also the control of the user’s navigation in the sense of where to go and where to look. KML was recently approved (http://www.opengeospatial.org/pressroom/pressreleases/857) by the members of the Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc. (OGC) as the OpenGIS® KML Encoding Standard (OGC KML) http://www.opengeospatial.org/standards/kml/, an open standard which will be maintained by the OGC.
KML mapping raises the bar for trip and incident animation in the trucking industry
As the Cadec on-board computer collects second by second GPS coordinates, PowerVue stores that data and makes it accessible at any time as a KML file. KML files can be saved and forwarded as an email attachment and played by anyone using a free KML player such as Google Earth, providing new levels of visibility into driver performance to a much broader audience.
Leverage detailed aerial, street level and hybrid satellite mapping views for trip animation and flyovers
Accurately animate delivery routes, clearly identifying sites, accounts, stops, and points-of-interest along a driver’s trip.
Track driver performance to highlight out-of-route miles and unplanned stops
Simulate driving scenarios including weather and time of day
Get detailed accident and incident recreation
Real-world driver performance data enhances training and improves safety
